Art Cake is excited to present a survey of new work by artists who have participated in the Art Cake residency studios since we opened in 2019. This exhibition corresponds with the three year anniversary of our residency program and is thus also a celebration of the artists and work that the residency has fostered. This program at Art Cake provides individual workspaces to artists from around the world, working in a variety of mediums, with an aim to build and support a diverse community of artists. With over thirty works in media ranging from oils on linen to latex and rope, Residents Showcase: 2019-Present will showcase the incredible diversity of the artists and practices supported by our program.
Art Cake is a creative hub for production and events in Sunset Park. We’re located in a fully renovated 1920s industrial space in Sunset Park that was once a patisserie and paint distribution factory. The ground floor is a 5000 sq. ft. pristine event venue with 17 ft. ceilings and exclusive street level access delivered as a flexible white box with authentic historic architectural details that retain hints of the building’s past. The residency complex is on the second floor and is comprised of ten studios and a shared communal area; the residents’ cost is subsidized by proceeds from the ground floor venue.
